Mel talked about making a quilt for his friend Bill years ago, but never got around to it. Someone said to me that Mel was waiting because he wanted one quilt for the both of them, and really didn't want to work on his own quilt. Well, after several months of thinking, designing, cutting, and sewing, with the help of Margaret, Robert, Cindy and Linda, the quilts are done.

One year after Mel passed I brought the quilts to the Names Project Visitor Center in San Francisco. There the quilts hung on display until May '98. In June the two quilts were joined with others to form a large block of 8 quilts and will be displayed periodically with other sections of the Names Project Quilt.
