Mel was born in 1965, along with his twin brother Ray. Mel's mom, Claudia "Cindy", carried three babies to term, but the third, a girl, was stillborn. Mel mentioned the girl now and then. He felt that he had a special connection with women, possibly because her spirit had chosen to live with him.
Mel and family lived in Santa Clara. Sisters Linda and Cindy were several years older and watched the boys as Mom went to work. Mom raised the boys without a father. George Boozer, police officer, left his wife and children when the boys were very young. Considering what an asshole he was I guess its good that he left.
Life for Mel was pretty good until he got into High School. He was often harrassed and terrorized for being gay. He dropped out of school in his junior year. He continued to study and eventually received his GED.
